Outreach

mission shad-40.png

We're more than a building in Albuquerque: we're members of a stand-out community. It's our desire to engage and support our neighbors near and far in ways that are truly helpful.

Serving a community extends far beyond our church walls. From The Burque to the Philippines, we desire to follow Jesus everywhere we are.

Neighborhood Connections

Family Promise of ABQ

First works with Family Promise throughout the year by donating time, money, resources, & volunteers.

"Family Promise of Albuquerque is a non-profit organization that assists families who are at risk for homelessness, currently experiencing homelessness or recently exiting homelessness.  The core of our program is our shelter, where we strive to help as many families with children as possible. No matter how families define their household, where children are concerned, we are here to help.

Family Promise of Albuquerque is also a community that wraps its arms around the families we serve to provide them with a network of support throughout their journey.  This community is made up  of over 700 volunteers from 21 different faith communities in the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho area.    Prior to COVID-19 we also utilized the space in 18 congregations of these faith communities to provide  overnight shelter, with families rotating between congregations on a weekly basis.  During COVID we have been utilizing a static site at one of the congregations and will be purchasing our own static site/ day center building in late February 2021.

Family Promise of Albuquerque believes that each individual from each family that utilizes our services has within them all that they need to be successful.  Sometimes, for whatever reason, the individuals we serve lose sight of those abilities.   Our staff works with each family individually and collaboratively to help them rediscover those strengths and abilities.   While providing wrap around services to help families address and overcome barriers to employment and housing, our staff empowers families to begin their journey to achieving sustainable independence."

Angels Acts of Kindness

This non-profit ministry is dedicated to providing food, clothing, & basic needs to the surrounding communities. Year round the church body donates gently used  or new household & clothing items to help in this effort which reaches thousands of lives each year. "The mission of Angels Acts of Kindness Inc. 501c(3) is to provide an organization of caring people dedicated to serving community needs by providing individuals who may not be eligible for other assistance a hand up in life. This assistance includes people in need and people involved in enhancing our ecological environment."

The Ranches

This organization is instrumental in giving a stable home environment for many children & youth who are struggling with their current situation. We have the privilege to serve this important organization in our community. "Since 1944 The New Mexico Boys & Girls Ranch (“The Ranches”) has offered a unique combination of family-style living in a rural ranch environment. The organization has evolved over the years from a single building, to include a large ranch south of Belen, NM that is home to struggling youth that promotes opportunity and meaningful help for struggling children and their families. Our multi-denominational Christian programs offer kids a safe place to live, a personalized plan to address their needs and goals, and individualized education and counseling. We offer families help through services such as crisis management, family counseling and parent skills training."
